Cottage ward
The beneficiaries of Chiranjeevi Yojana can now avail facilities of Cottage and Private Ward in government and private hospitals. However, people have to pay an additional fee to avail the facility. Health Minister Prasadi Lal Meena informed that those insured under Chiranjeevi Yojana can get cottage facilities in government hospitals at a fee fixed by RMRS, whereas pvt hospitals, which have got NABL certification, will have to pay their own rate charge to Raj State Health Assurance Agency. “Patients can choose this facility at their own will. No pvt hospital can pressurize any patient to pay charges. However, this is a very good facility for those insured under Yojana,” said Health Minister Prasadi Lal Meena.
At present, MES Hospital has 10 cottage wards. They will be demolished completely in two phases and new wards would be constructed at the same place. The hospital will construct two buildings – North and South wing. The structures will have a basement, ground plus six floors. Since the buildings would be constructed horizontally, it would be able to accommodate 402 cottage wards. The hospital has planned to construct multi-storey buildings to provide for more cottage wards on limited land.
“First, North wing will be constructed and then we will take up the South wing. The new cottage wards will be constructed in two phases,” MES Hospital additional superintendent Dr Arvind sanadhay said.
Cottage wards have better facilities in comparison with other general wards in the hospital. On a regular basis, the hospital receives recommendations from politicians and other influential people to allot the cottage wards to patients known to them.
